So...Looks like a Cabin is on my wish list

I came across this website (http://freecabinporn.com/) this afternoon and instantly became obsessed. The notion of having a hidden, tucked away gem which is off the grid and transports you back in time brings out the pioneer in me. I was obsessed with Anne of Green Gables after all, but I diverge. I'm feeling totally inspired so let out the inner recluse and get into cabin style!

A very 16th Century Christmas

There is something about Sandro Botticelli's Mystic Nativity (1500) which I find mesmerizing. Specifically the angels swathed in muted green, oyster and blush flowing fabric. Ribbons twirling around evergreen branches all set against a luminous golden heaven.

So with this as my inspiration and my predisposition to associate pretty much anything to art history I thought I would whip up a little 16th century Christmas.

1 part olive green

1 part rose

2 parts gold

and dash of rustic elegance

Farmhouse Friday

Something about autumn always brings me back to the country. I've always had a soft spot for the farmhouse aesthetic. To me it's defined by a casual, effortless chic. Antique terra cotta floors, some elegant clutter and of course places to curl up and read a book. A space for special things accumulated over the years to swaddle you in comfort.
