Design Navigation - Decorating with Maps

My most recent inspiration? A large scale map, washed out from the sun and placed in a understated thin wooden frame which I came across while on vacation in Muskoka. It looked amazing and while I couldn't take it home it doesn't mean that I can't apply the inspiration on this side of the continent!

I find maps really easy to work with. They have a great scale and can be used in so many different ways. Monochromatic colours can keep this look modern while washed out vintage versions can add bold sophistication. These are some of my favorites:

A great way add impact, but keep a nursery sophisticated. And as an added bonus, they might learn something too! From smallshopstudio.com

I absolutely love lined enveloped and this one is no exception. From ohsobeautifulpaper.com

  1. I've been so into world maps lately too! Never thought a sophisticated world map can look so good in a nursery (i might have to try that one!)... and I am also a sucker for lined envelops. :)
