Master of Form - Loie Fuller

Loie fuller was the first of her kind. When she first performed for Paris society in the late 19th century she caused quite the sensation. Armed with a simple silk costume and cunning creativity she delighted crowds as her movement was mimicked by fabric and form.

Graceful and truly mesmerizing she was a true pioneer and an inspiration for many.

Enjoy!

I posted a while back on artist James Nares - see the relation?

Bring the Party Inside - Prohibition Glamour

About a week ago I snuggled up on the sofa and watched the amazing 3 part documentary by legendary filmmaker Ken Burns on prohibition (if you haven't seen it - it is a goodie). One part glamour, a dash of excess, the thrill of going against the establishment, a bit of hollywood and you have a recipe for fabulousness from parties to parlors. So when it is the time of year to bring the party inside - how will you indulge?

Spanning from 1920 - 1935 this period stands on the cusp of art nouveau and art deco - old world romance mixes with shiny art deco.

Art Deco masterpiece (1935 so slightly after prohibition)Eltham Palace, Greenwich England. Initially designed in 1935, so just after prohibition, but I think aesthetically still relevant to the period.
